Statistical Bulletin on the Status of the CRTVUs in 2006

In 2006, the system of the China Radio and TV Universities (CRTVUs) consisted of the China Central Radio and TV University (CCRTVU, now the Open University of China); 44 provincial radio and TV universities (PRTVUs) (referring to the radio and TV universities established in provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government and cities with economic planning directly supervised by the State Council and other independently established RTVUs); 945 branch schools of radio and TV universities at the prefecture and city level (referring to 766 branch schools and 179 working stations under the direct administration of the PRTVUs); and 1,842 working stations of county-level RTVUs (referring to the working stations under the direct administration of the branch schools). There are altogether 46,724 teaching classes around the country.
Ⅰ. The Degree/Diploma Education
1. Open Education
In 2006, 592,400 students graduated from the CCRTVU with either a bachelor's degree (after getting an associate degree or junior college diploma), an associate degree (junior college diploma) or a certificate from the One College-Student-for-One-Village Programme. Among these, 225,300 were undergraduates. They included 4,493 who received a bachelors degree, 365,700 with an associate degree, and the 1,300 with a certificate from the One College-Student-for-One-Village Programme.
In 2006, enrollment in CCRTVU open education programme totaled 709,000. This included 256,800 undergraduate students, 421,500 junior college students and 30,700 students involved in the One-College-Student- for-One-Village Programme.
In 2006, there were 1,867,300 active students registered in CCRTVU open education programme, including 698,700 undergraduate students, 1,122,400 junior college students and 46,300 students in the One-College-Student -for-One-Village Programme.
