Planned Degree/Diploma Education 1. Higher junior college education includes: (1) the "Full-time Junior College Education" refers to the education enrolling the high school graduates who have passed the unified national college entrance examination to receive higher diploma education (the enrollment of students in "General Junior College Education" ceased in 2006, except for some provincial open universities carrying out the general junior college education and higher vocational education according to a local education plan; (2) the "Adult Junior College Education" refers to a part-time or full-time education (including the education for a second junior college diploma) enrolling the students who have finished high school or have the same educational background and have passed the exam organized by the national adult higher learning institutions. 2. "Diploma-to-Degree Education" refers to the education enrolling the students who have passed the national entrance examination. 3. "Secondary Technical Education". In 2009, 73,500 junior college students in the open universities in China graduated, 70,300 were newly enrolled, and there were 180,200 active students. Among them, 18,500 graduates, 12,600 newly recruited students and 36,200 active students were included in the "Full-time Junior College Education" programme, while 55,000 graduates, 57,700 new enrollment students and 144,000 active students were included in the "Adult Junior College Education" programme. In 2009, under the "Diploma-to-Degree" programme, there were 262 graduates, 234 newly recruited students and 1,059 active students. In 2009, there were 311 majors in ten fields of study and 49 second-rank disciplines provided by the "Adult Junior College Education" programme and "Diploma-to-Degree" programme in the open universities in China.
